WAYNE RICE

It could have been a product of the Chernobyl melt down. It could have been a lightning strike on a sandy beach in the South Pacific. Or it could have simply been the result of a single drop of rain on a four-leaf clover seed. Truth is that nobody really knows when he got here or where he came from. But what we do know is that Wayne Rice is an American born male adult with an incredible gift from above.

Wayne Rice grew up in Placerville California in a loving and caring home. Music was always a staple in the Rice household and Wayne knew at an early age that music was his first and true love. Wayne’s only and older brother Wally Rice was, and continues to be a huge inspiration.

In the 80’s through the mid 90’s, Wayne played bass guitar in several local bands around Sacramento, most notably was Heaven’s Thunder and Wacked. It was during his time that Wayne met drummer John Gonzales and formed a friendship and partnership that still stands strong today. It was with Wacked that Wayne really started to focus on creating beats on a Roland R8.

It wasn’t long after Wacked disbanded that Wayne out grew the Roland drum machine and made the transition over to keyboards and synthesizers. Wayne created his own home studio and submerged himself into writing melodic instrumental ear candy backed by solid back beat and percussion with John. Some songs were merely 30 – 40 seconds in length while others were over 12 minutes. Many songs were not tied down to structure, but more in the direction that the song itself took. These songs were geared toward commercials and background music for movies, but once people started hearing them, they wanted CD’s for their own personal enjoyment. Wayne and Wally continued to collaborate together and one of their songs 'Waiting For The Rain' was picked up by the VH1 movie ~ Hysteria: The Def Leppard Story.

For the past several years, Wayne has lived in Sacramento and still writes and produces masterpieces in his home studio. He still collaborates with his brother Wally who now lives in Florida and John who also remains local. His music ranges anywhere from trans to rave, to ballad, to hard driving rock. His music can be darker than midnight in the Mariana Trench or more colorful than the top of a rainbow on a spring day.
